Don't Be Sane And Sober

i was at a quick shop in line with people buying smokes, booze and candy. I was buying candy, what a sweet tooth I developed. Big guy in the front, wasted is screaming at the guy behind the counter. We're all freaking, I about dropped my candy. He kept going and I lost and told him to back off. He turns to me and says who are you and I say I'm a guy in line buying candy, don't be a dick. So what else, I said I was a drunk, 3 Ts in nam. He got like sorry and was hurt and said he just lost his job. We like did a bro shake and left. I told him about a meeting. At the end as I was driving home I almost threw up. That guy was big. But I was insanely sober and my thought was if I can stand up to sober what don't I stand up to? i recommend, don't confront a big drunk.

Not advisable, maybe, but I still think you did the right thing, FWIW.

Bah! You did exactly the right thing Fitz! Good for you too.

I won't get all spiritual on ya but I think if and when we step up to the plate and do stuff like that, more often than not we get an extra boost of power.......and can accomplish what we ordinarily wouldn't be able to do. I see it allllllllll the time (and not just with drunks).

Well done!

my point was I think drunk and needing a bottle I'd just stood there with the shakes or dreams but sober it wasn't right and it was not about a bottle as a wrong I needed to right. So i need therepy, I'm sober but not the Higher Power.

Maybe, just maybe...you were meant to be there. You said all the right things, which was proven by the fact that the guy didn't turn on you. He heard you. Maybe what you said to him was something he needed to hear. Maybe.

You know what?

I've been around a long time now. One thing I have figured out.

There are NO coincidences, none, nada. Everything has a purpose and we
do not necessarily know what that purpose is.

You were exactly where you were suppose to be. Words were put in your mouth
that got that man's attention. And sounds like it calmed him down. I think Suki is
right:

"Maybe what you said to him was something he needed to hear. Maybe. "

You did good Fitz!!!!

Love and hugs,

Yea but I'm parinoid. This dude was mean and I faced him. Dumb. I just hope he's dumber. it's possible. What I really hope is he finds sober sooner then me. 6 monthes and laughing, behind a looked door.

Granted, it's probably not a good idea to take on big drunk guys.
But...this time, things turned out ok, and you learned another lesson Fitz
