Out of 2nd Detox; Starting Outpatient intensive therapy

I did it again ... just got out of detox again yesterday after another 4 day bender. They wanted to send me to 30 day rehab but I don't feel comfortable leaving our 13 year old autistic son with my AH so I said no ... but agreed to begin outpatient intensive therapy next week. Seems like a reasonable compromise for now. The main point now is to get AH out of the house, at least temporarily so that I can heal and get some sobriety under my belt. I just can't get sober living with an active alcoholic. We'll see what happens. I see a lawyer tomorrow about a temporary separation ... 3mos., 6 mos, something like that, so we can both reevaluate our situation. We'll see what happens. Wish me luck/prayers, please.

Hope it goes well for you desertsong, *hugs*. That has to be really tough living with someone who is drinking a lot while you are trying to remain in sober living.

DS, all the good vibes I can possibly summon heading your way! Hang in there, and take as much out of your outpatient treatment as you can possibly get!

Hiya DS,

Sending positive thoughts your way, DS. I know you have a long, tough road ahead, but that the rewards will be wonderful! I have to tell you that I am so impressed with you. It sounds like you are making great choices for you and your family. It is so awesome to see a mom making the right decisions. I hope that your AH has his wake up call during the separation I know that may be wishful thinking, but it sure would be great if he followed your lead on this one. Keep us updated on your situation, OK?

Hugs,
MC

Are you refusing rehab because your 13 year old autistic or you don't want to go to rehab? It's only 28 days and if it helps you to stop with the benders is better then going through the motion of a 4 day bender ever few weeks or month.

desertsong so so sorry to hear about where your situation is...

Prayers are sent and even tonight I added you in the group prayers..

You guys have to figure something out, him or you have to get out of there. Dig deep and dont be afraid to ask people for help around you. I am sure someone would step up to the plate for a month to take care of your son, so you can get a grip on taking care of you..

Good love, Inda
