Is there a thread about what to expect when u stop drinking?

I drink 8 beers a night 5 days a week for a long time. I just stopped and know some withdraw symptoms from searching on here but wanted to know is it dangerous to stop all together. Is there a thread comparing symptom
With amount people drink. Thank you

Welcome to SR lance

Detox can be rough - I always recommend people see a Dr - don't hesitate to see one if you think you need to.

Hi Lance,

It's scary to think about stopping drinking, but you are not alone.

I can only comment on myself. I drank 10-15 beers a night every night of the week for decades and I didn't have any real physical withdrawal symptoms. Lots of mental withdrawal symptoms though. I guess it varies by person though.

I had a similar pattern as you. Stopped with no significant withdrawl symptoms. I did have trouble sleeping. Bought a fan and this helped...kept me cool and the noise was nice.

Good luck Lance, and welcome! Don't be afraid to see a doctor if you do experience physical symptoms that are unusual or scary!!

This isn't exactly what you meant...but you can expect to feel tired but will sleep better, feel more clear headed, feel less ashamed, more in control, and won't beat yourself up as much

Thanks for information so far I get very hot when sleeping and wake up in the middle of the night wide awake. I will try the fan advice. My head has been a lot clearer but I'm only a couple days sober and each day I seem to crave beer more. I try to eat 3 meals a day so I don't mistake hunger with needing to drink. Thanks again 4 your replies.
