Newbie here

Day One sober - drank THREE bottles of wine last night. Still got up, made the kids lunches and dropped them at school. Hungover as hell. Dont know how I got here really, I run MARATHONS having just completed two since 30th April and one more to go in October. Have also booked my first Ultra Marathon. Feel such **** that I am so fit yet continue to trash my body three times a week with heavy alcohol abuse. On a great diet, take all my supplements so... "todays the day"

Welcome and glad you made it here. I am one who was fit years ago when I was younger but with many years of alcohol abuse I've become very overweight and unfit. I'm 10 days sober and am already changing my eating habits and getting out in the sun and going for walks with my girlfriend. I realize how much more special that is too me than being hungover and not being able to or even wanting to do those types of things. Glad you're here.

Great decision, marathoner! Glad you've seen the light. This is a very helpful & hopeful place, and we all understand.

Hello Marathoner! I'm a half marathoner.. training for my 7th and 8th in October. I know how hard this is. I've been in the same boat. It really impacted my running. If you ever want to talk, message me! You CAN do this. I'm 44 days sober today!

Welcome. I know how you feel with training and being hung over/addicted. Once you're in the addiction, everything else seems so far away. I missed doing my 3rd Ironman this year due to knee and shoulder inuries and my drinking went through the roof. Now I have to get back...it felt horrible at first, but it's nice feeling like I'm in charge of my training and life as opposed to the bottle being in charge. Take back the power! Glad you joined! :-)
