Hi and Welcome,
It would be a really good idea to talk to your dr today or go to an ER because detoxing from alcohol can be dangerous. Please get medical help if you need it.
I'm glad you found us!

Welcome Peaches
Sorry you are suffering. I'd recommend a trip to the doctors too. If you can't get an appointment go to A&E or ring NHS direct. They are really good at just recommending where to go for help and how to ask for it if nothing else.
Glad you're posting x

Hi Peaches.
With the symptoms you describe please get help. Probably best from your doctor.
If your an addict alcohol withdrawal can have very serious effects, and you probably need help with these.
Please again get to see your doctor as an urgent appointment. With my doctors if I explained what was happening they would have me in that day. I may have to wait for an hour or so but I would be seen.
Cov.

Welcome Peaches!
We know what it's like trying to get off alcohol and how dangerous withdrawal can be. Don't be afraid to get help - do you have someone you can call to take you to a doctor or the ER? The DT's are nothing to mess around with:
We're here to support you - things really do get better once we put the drink down. Be compassionate with yourself. Addiction affects millions of people just like us and we really can recover and go on to live happier lives. :ghug3

The main symptoms of Delirium Tremens are confusion, diarrhea, insomnia, nightmares, disorientation and agitation and other signs of severe autonomic instability (fever, tachycardia, hypertension). These symptoms may appear suddenly but can develop 2–3 days after cessation of drinking heavily with its highest peak/ intensity on the fourth or fifth day. Other common symptoms include intense perceptual disturbance such as visions of insects, snakes, or rats. DT can sometimes be associated with severe, uncontrollable tremors of the extremities and secondary symptoms such as anxiety, panic attacks and paranoia.
Welcome and do seriously consider seeing a doctor. My alcohol of choice was vodka as well and coming off it was horrible. I had a couple of seizures once and i realize now that they could have killed me. Go to an ER if your withdrawls are bad. I did once and they took wonderful care of me. It's embarassing and scary at first but the doctors and nurses really are happy that you're coming in voluntarily and not due to a traffic accident or other alcohol related accident.

i drink lager only on a night so was in denial at having a problem as i only thought alcholics drank allday everyday but then 1 day the witdrawl hit me so im in the process of waiting for rehab as iv been told i cant just quit on my own i have to have medical detox. if your getting DTs youll need to see a DR. also alcoholism isnt just what you drink and when you drink but how it affects your life, for instance i cant function day to day, i suffer anxiety, i became a liar where i would borrow money off my mam and make out it was for household stuff when really it was for drink, and my bf has to take out loans to pay bills as i spend all our money on drink. so if you also find it is affecting you life then you definately need help from a medical proffessional

Welcome to SR peaches.. I see you're from Doncaster, I'm from Hull originally, good to see you on here.
Give NHS 0845 46 47 a ring if you can't bring yourself to your GP or A and E (though I would go if you're getting DTs... they are really serious).
Let us know how it goes, good luck.
