A lovely sober day

Ok, I went out for lunch with my H, met up with some dear friends, went to the cinema, came home and spent the evening at another friends house chatting and giggling like kids. Our daughters are best friends and we sat in the kitchen listening to their teenage conspiratorial whispers and muffled laughter.

What was so special?

Not once did I think of a drink.

A day filled with simple pleasures and happiness.

Tomorrow I start working the steps with my new sponsor. I've chosen which path I want to follow and it is just so unbelievably clear to me now.

This is achievable. I'm going to do it x

Doesn't it feel good when you have a breakthrough like that? Very proud of you, Jeni - for sticking with it when the going got rough.

congrats to you. it is 'weird' when the obsession finally lifts, even for an hour, especially for a day. but a good weird.

Hi Jen,
That was a very important point you raised, especially for the newcomer. Not thinking about a drink. What a great place to be. I had almost forgotten.

Love

Wonderful post! I just went out for frozen yogurt with my 10yo son. The fact that I am not holed up in my bedroom makes me thankful.
