I am a former smoker -- smoked off and on, but mostly "on", from age 17 - age 19. I have had the equivalent of maybe a pack or two of cigarettes since early 2011. however I addicted myself to snus about six weeks ago. I was in a hole with some assignments for school, had already abused the daylights out of caffeine, and wondered what stimulant I could take. nicotine came to mind. 'addict' that I am, it quickly became a dependency, and I've been going through a tin (15 pouches) every 3 days since then.


not sure when and if I will want to quit, but figured I'd share. this is not going to be a popular opinion, but there is decent evidence that snus is a cheap and relatively effective harm reduction strategy for smokers.
