Promises
Promises
There are alot of promises in the Big Book. Here is one I think they should read in meetings:
But after a while we had to face the fact that we must find a spiritual basis of life—or else.- BB page 44
But after a while we had to face the fact that we must find a spiritual basis of life—or else.- BB page 44
However, when it comes to negative consequences or musts, I count them as caveats, not something to look forward to. I highlight them in orange - for caution.

I highlighted the promises also putting a capitol "P" in my books margin.
the negative consequences, I call warnings.I highlighted them in another color also.A "W" in the margin to help me find them later
I also looked for directions and put a "D" in the margin
directions,warnings and promises
3 good things to search for

Sounds more like a warning or a threat to me. Of course, most newcomers don't read that far anyway. Too much trouble!! Besides in this day and age, people don't like to be told the truth. Don't you know it's mean spirited and unfeeling?? I've come to believe what the Big Book says about John Barleycorn being the best convincer. I use that a lot.
