AA Big Book Quote 12/31
"At a certain point in the drinking of every
alcoholic, he passes into a state where the most powerful
desire to stop drinking is of absolutely no avail.
This tragic situation has already arrived in practically
every case long before it is suspected."

Very good passage. As twisted as it may sound, I hope I never lose that feeling of utter helplessness. I was there only a short time ago. This passage reminds me of the Doctor's Opinion in the Big Book where it talks about forming the habit to drink. When the thought of drinking again enters my mind I "play the tape through" as I've heard and learned from others in the program. It doesn't take long to remember that feeling of helplessness and when I recall that feeling the thought of drinking again passes quickly. Thank you again and Happy New Year to all.
