Venom
Venom
I used to grow up, being a kid, watching super hero cartoons such as spiderman and x-men.
Still love the movies, they are my soap-operas kinda. gratefull to live in this era were Marvel productions and DC productions have reached such perfection.
Can't wait for the avengers to come out, few more months.
As a teenager, I bought comic books. Never put them in plastic or something. In fact, a few of them still got some cleaned off vomit marks on them from alcohol benders. LOL.
When I think of addiction.
The character VENOM always comes to my mind. The villain.
VENOM is a parasitic alien. It leaches to it's host. Feeding on adrenaline.
Once bonded it's very very hard to get rid of. It gives you tremendous powers, fillfulls dreams. Or so it seems at first.
Then he will take you over.
His favorite host is Eddie Brock. A body builder, full of resentment towards Peter Parker, spiderman. I know, from the original story line, he will consume Eddie, giving him cancer. Then he leaves him.
Leaving Eddie as a broken old man of young age.
The offspring of Venom is 'Carnage'
I just love the symbolism.

Doctor Strange - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
He fights...not only for humanity but for all of the universe. (kinda similar to my buddhist vows)
and this quote...
had it on soberrecovery for a while...
in fact..
taking it back right now.
'you don't have to be ashamed of who you've been... what you've done. I know... better than you could imagine... what it is to sink to the depths. To be on bended knee before God -- screaming for deliverance'.

Hi CC,
So interesting to hear such a complex metaphor you have pulled off with that on. I appreciated it being a obsessive comic book junkie growing up. Yes is was my first unhealthy addiction but I also learned to read on comics. I even used to visit the flea market and stuff the high ticket ones under my shirt and run off. Ok just got that off my chest ha ha (5th step it never stops)
I still filter reality through the world of comics too. I usually call myself critter when explaning some of my wreckage or muddled warped thinking when I am in recovery discussion groups. I call it this because I really do not understand who that is and need a name but this version of self is so different yet so similar in ways. SCARY!!! The name that comes to my mind is Bizzaro Superman but I don't think my crowd would get it. Thanks for being here.
Sorry about those vomit ruined comic tragic indeed.
