Just Starting

Today is day 2 of sobriety. I need this to work for my health and my family. I have tried in the past but I find it very difficult because everyone I know drinks, friends, family members, etc. I have been looking into AA meetings in my area, but Im nervous to go.

Try friends family and you. Each day you'll feel pride that will help. First few days are so often rocky just try and keep on.
Good luck John.

Hi CDub, Good to hear you are marching right along. The nervousness passes and may pass inside the meeting. They are only one hour and noting is expected of newcomers.
If you are looking for a solution you may hear something.

I'd be more nervous about about losing my health and keeping my family...AA saved my life....Sometimes you just have to find the courage and just do it...We're talking about people that have stopped drinking for good that want to show you how to do the same...I don't really see anything to be afraid of with that.

Welcome, cdub! New to this site myself. Hope you find it helpful. Lots of good people here who have been where you are and can help you battle that fear.

No one is elated about going to their first AA meeting. However here is a good link on what to expect:
