Going to a meeting
I have made the decision to go to an AA meeting tomorrow. I could've gone tonight (and still might if I find one close to me) but I was having a very hard time making the decision to go. I'm still not sure whether meetings are a good idea for me or not, but I decided to find out. If they're not for me then I don't have to go back. You never know though, this could be what I needed the whole time. I have nothing to lose by going and possibly a lot to gain. I am a nervous wreck, wish me luck!
Hey Chiyo,
Congratulations on taking some action. Your logic is exactly right.....you owe it to yourself to give it a try. I hope you like that group. If not, try another one. Every group is different. Good luck!

open-mindedness like that will serve you WELL in recovery. A lot of the times (especially in AA) you'll be asked to do/try things that seem to have NO good reason. it's tough to not judge and just act but with an attitude like yours, you'll be ready for it.
I woulda' bet a fortune that AA wouldn't help much. I figured it might be a bit of help.....but just a bit. I'll be damned, my whooooole life changed. It's a wonderful program but it only works IF you work it. Don't sell yourself short and sit on the sidelines......get involved. Find a sponsor/guide through the steps and see if it makes a difference. I'll practically guarantee you'll come out on the other side a changed person.
