I'm almost 1 month sober. I've been in a couple of drinking atmospheres, not drinking for once, and I'm curious as to whether I'm just sensitive to the situation.
My Bf and I went to a casino. I don't even gamble but it was time away. Since we're going sober together, neither of us drank. It was not even a question. StAyed in a hotal as well. Can't ever remember staying in a hotel and not getting plastered.
I found myself very aware of the alcohol around me. If you have ever been to a casino, you know that if you're gambling, drinks are free and plentiful. Anyways, people were drinking at all hours of the day. Nine in the morning and the cocktail waitresses were straight out. I found myself wondering.. do casual drinkers drink at that time of day? Do they stop at one or two and are fine for the rest of the day? I know everyone is different and I'm not comparing or contemplating drinking, but on the average, is this typical? Or is this world full of alcoholics?

I usually try to focus on my own recovery. And, I wouldn't choose to be in a casino, at least not for very long.

I don't gamble at all but maybe 1-2 times a year I go to the casino with relatives who are in town for holidays and occasions and waste some time on penny slots. I've wondered about how people are drinking at all hours of the day. But I quickly saw the difference - my uncles and cousins had a couple drinks throughout a few hours and went home and got on with their day. I had 10 drinks and went home to drink 20 more alone!
