Firsts
Good morning!
I am amazed by all of the hope and progress I see from everyone in this forum, particularly in our January class. You are inspirations to me!
It would be so encouraging to me to hear your "firsts" since you got sober, giving me things to anticipate and to celebrate with you. I'll go...
Today, FIRST time to sleep deeply and peacefully through the whole night until my alarm went off at 6.
Yesterday, FIRST time my tween son came up, gave me a big hug, and said "Good job not drinking any more, Mom!" (what do you know, they could tell.) What bittersweet kudos from my kid. Makes me want to laugh and cry at the same time.
Have a great and peaceful day, everyone!

OMG so many nice topic and thank you for it.
I will just say todays first, is I am off to the doctors for blood work. Last week I went and saw a doctor for the first time in over 20 years. Which is just as long as my heavy heavy drinking and drugging career was.
So with that my first is taking care of my body so I can enjoy many other firsts.
Good love, Inda

some firsts...
I can read a novel and 1)remember it and 2)not pass out while reading.
I found extra money in my account yesterday that, last month, would've been spent on alcohol.
for the first time in AWHILE I feel like I'm in control of my present and future.
another first, 17 days for me, which I'm ecstatic about.
you can do it ICETEA!

Hey darkdays, you never know who your tmi can help!
I had another first this morning: usually my first bit of consciousness is spent groaning, rolling over, and going back to sleep. Today was the first day that my consciousness said, "hey wake up get out of bed I cant wait to get a lot done today.".

Today was the first time I've shoveled both my driveway AND both the neighbors' driveways! For the past few years that I've lived here, they would clear off my drive way sometimes and I was always still asleep or too hung over in the morning to return the favor.
I remember my first day of not panicking over when & where my next drink would come from. I was finally free! I drank round the clock at the end of my career. It seems incredible now, that I somehow justified it. Thanks for an uplifiting post iceteaplease.
