New to this site, not new to recovery....
Hi there everyone. I've been spending a lot of time on the computer rather than trying to stay dry in wet places and my therapist told me to check out some online meetings. I haven't found a lot that I have taken a liking to but I came across this site while surfing the web.
I thought, "Why not give this a try?!"...
I have forty-two days clean. I relapsed, even though I never thought that I would. I guess I was over confident. I haven't been to many AA or NA meetings lately, honestly none at all in the last month. I don't share well at meetings so I thought I might be able to share more openly on the internet without faces starting at me and making me feel uncomfortable....

Hi and welcome, bittersweet!
Congratulations on 42 days clean! It never hurts to have all the support we can get. I love this place and have been sober since I came here about 20 months ago.....
Since you used the word "clean," I thought you might also want to check out the section on substance abuse, too:
Substance Abuse - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information
Keep going strong!

Posting here, honestly.......should help you get more honest at meetings. That said though, I always learn more from what I HEAR at meeting than from what I say.
Me false ego though, it loves to be heard.....it loves ppl to hang on my every word....it likes to talk....a lot! lol. Knowing that my false ego is closely related to my alcoholism.....and that feeding my ego isn't too far removed from feeding my alcoholic thinking.....that helped me get past that old desire to sound wise, smart and like "the man" at meetings.

Although it's far from set in stone, alcoholics usually use the word 'sober' - people with other addictions generally use 'clean' - it's just one of those things
We have a lot of different forums here, and I encourage you to check them out.

No not "your bad" at all. It seems that the addicts to drugs like to congregate over on the forum Dee linked you to. But the newcomer's forum IS for everyone! Welcome and post where you like here or there or everywhere. But Dee is kind of a greeter, friend, conductor, and info central all rolled into one orange looking gnome. His suggestions are usually on track. As with all good conductors. Us alcoholics/problem drinkers/bingers/daytime/night time drinkers and those who have no problems with drinking, only with stopping, tend to outnumber the others in this forum though.
Ha ha well thank you! But I did check out the other forum and it works well. I really don't know how to run around this site yet but I will get use to it. Any suggestions I will take consideration to thank you!!!
Hey bittersweet welcom! I know some meetings are better than others. I have a set few that I go to every week. Once you go for awhile, people there get to know you and you them. Don't feel like you have to share everytime. The time will come when you want to and don't be afraid. It does get easier each time you do it.
This site is great! Post away! You will get tons of support. I promise.
God bless.
