Beware of the holidays !!!
Beware of the holidays !!!
Of course we well know the holidays can be a trigger;
But here is the trick:
Make up a written relapse prevention plan, with help of sponsor and group
. They are online.
Carry this with you ( perhaps on index cards)
Read and review it daily - so the material is right up front in you awareness.
This IMO - is the KEY
Knowing what can cause, instigate, incite, precipate, relapse
can help you cope and avoid it. ( TURN ASIDE from it ! )
In fact on the plan - there is place - to state how to cope with the particular inciting factor.
Many cases of relapse are caused by LOSS of 1 kind or another, physically, emotionally, spiritually.
Be Safe and Keep up the Faith !! Blessings- Merry Christmas
And Happy New Year !!

If people would actually DO these things, that would be a fantastic thing!
How often do you hear someone say, "All of a sudden there was a drink in my hand, before I even knew it!"
Well, as a non-drinker, I can say that has actually happened to me. And when it has, I've found it more amusing than threatening. Put it down, say no thanks. No questions. No argument. End of story.
Better still keep a non-alcoholic drink in your hand at all Christmas functions. That way, it is less likely someone will put a drink in your hand "before you know it."
Merry Christmas everyone.
