Thank you all and the plan
Thank you all and the plan
I have had a rough summer and fall, and I have handled it by self-medicating. But I kept struggling with how to get control--I knew I had to. So I know I have been better than before SR.
So I decided I had to re-commit and start posting again. I left my little post yesterday and responded to some others, posted some gratitude and went into Day Two. And tonight I checked to see if anyone had said hello.
So many of you had it was truly heartening. Thank you so much for being there. I think the way we care for each other is critical. We care for each other because we share a challenge and a goal. We understand each other. And the fact that this love is abstract might actually be a good thing. One expects that his or her family loves him or her. One does not expect that people one has never met will share their prayers and good will freely.
Thank you all for being here. Thank you for sharing.
The plan. I had tried again and again to maintain my lifestyle and just "not drink." That's over. I won't go to the places where I get in trouble. I won't see those people. If that makes me a bore to my husband, so be it.
Again, I am so very grateful to know I have your support. It is phenomenal.
Day Two--completely sober and feelin' okay. Bring it on.

Great to see you again, Missy!
As I've heard it said many times: "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time."
I wanted to to add that there is a WONDERFUL rehab facility about an hour north of you if you feel so inclined. Great food, great staff, very comfortable rooms. Carpet in all the hallways and great room. It was a wonderful time out to get sober and get my head on straight.

I tried for a long time to live my old life and just not drink too - it just wasn't possible because my old life was drinking.
I'm glad I changed my life, because I wouldn't have become who I am now without it.
Better still, this new sober life still has a lot of room for me to grow yet
Again, I'm glad you're back Missy

The great thing about a recovery plan is you can add to it as you go along.
