Introducing myself
Hi everyone, I am a newcomer to this forum but not to recovery.
I would describe my recovery as self-managed and eclectic because I have used online secular sobriety forums and mailing lists, had therapy and continue to use CBT techniques. Interested to hear and learn from others doing the same thing.

Luisa, there is a goodly number of folks who know about AVRT, CBT, REBT, SMART, and lots and lots of other letters too, as well as AA and other 12 step programs.
We do our best around here to recognize and accept our individual paths to sobriety and abstinence, even encouraging and congratulating others who have chosen paths different than our own.
Look around, pull up that comfy chair in the corner, and make yourself at home.

Welcome to the family, Louisa! SR is also my main method of support.
I'm a lifelong drinker who tried many times to control my drinking - with disastrous results. When I found SR I knew I was no longer alone, and that meant everything. I hope you'll stay with us & enjoy what you find here. Congratulations on your desire to keep alcohol out of your life.

Thanks for all the welcomes -- it's good to know a diversity of approaches is respected here. Over the last few years i have worked hard to find what works best for me and clear-thinking sober support from others is a priority.
