Celebrate Sobriety
To celebrate my sobriety, I got a tattoo.
I'm not a "tattoo kind of girl" so this was a huge deal to me.
It is really pretty - and I'm really proud of it!
Has anyone else done something special to celebrate a new life of sobriety??

I haven't gotten the tattoo I want yet to celebrate my sobriety...I was thinking I'd wait until I'd been sober six months or a year. A little gift to myself to celebrate my biggest gift to myself. What'd you get Grace?
I like your tattoo and the idea behind it PaperDolls.

I have lots of tattoos, and have thought of a 'sobriety' tattoo. I remember when I was a month into my sobriety I had a tattoo all planned out, drawn, etc.. and I ended up drinking again. At this point, it wont happen, but I'm pretty happy I didn't get that original tattoo.. now the work of coming up with a new design and placement.. I plan to do it soon. The thought behind what I was going to get (and likely still will), was nothing 'obvious' in terms of being sober, I was selecting a few images of different flowers that had different meanings such as strength, perseverance, courage, etc.. I'll need to think on that a bit more
I can't really decide if I would get something that has my sobriety date on it. I mean, isn't that kinda like the superstition about getting a significant other's name tattoo'ed on you? On the other hand, I guess it'd be a pretty good motivator not to relapse. :: shrug ::

:)
I thought about "peace" and "love" but decided on a blue lotus - it is the symbol of inspiration and rebirth - it is asymetrical with swirls and curls - small - whimsical - and very pretty.
I love it! It makes me smile. And Its JUST for me - on my hip bone. The only people who will see it are those with whom I share my story.

Congrats on your tattoo. How exciting for you. I got a of a beautiful feminine tattoo when I left my ex 5 years ago. It is an angel. When I get caught up, I'm getting another one. I think it is going to be the japanese symbol for serenity.
I had planned on my tattoo long before I got sober, but because my guy was booked way out I ended up going through treatment and getting sober before I got around to actually getting it.
I don't have a pic, sorry. I got a half sleeve with King Arthur on a horse. Don't ask, it's a long story....
It doesn't really have anything to do with my recovery, but I did like to think of it as a gift to myself to celebrate my sobriety.

I've thought about tattoos... just never have been able to decide on anything. I like the idea of it. I've thought of getting something like a Lion or Dragon mix. It's my western & eastern horoscope. And then I've often thought of getting a Phoenix... the symbol of transformation.
