A Poem I Wrote Titled "Letting Go"
I hope this helps someone who is being hurt or has been hurt by a loved one's addiction.
Letting go day by day.. Letting go there's no other way. Letting go minute by minute with each breath I take, Letting Go For My Own Self's Sake. Letting Go Hour By Hour, With Each Beat Of My Heart, Slowly Your Addiction Tore Us Apart.
Letting Go Second By Second, One Step At A Time, Your Addiction Had More Power Time After Time.
Letting Go And Wondering And Asking My-Self Why? Your Addiction Slowly Caused Us To Die.
Now I'm Learning How To Cope And Little By Little I'm Now Feeling Hope.
Letting Go Was Not A Easy Skill, But Once I Said Good-Bye, I Have Started To Heal.

Years ago somewhere I read...."I rock you close as my memory grows cold....I rock you close as the memory grows old."
Now 4 yrs. post divorce I choose to remember the good times only. I let him go but will always rock him close.
