To beat it I had to act like the Romans

I had a bit of a funny thought. In a previous life I was an archaeologist and historian. Quitting drinking for me was a lot like how the Romans built there empire. The Romans were beat many times on the battlefield by many peoples. If you have ever heard of Carthage or Hannibal you will know he kicked their butt all over Italy for years. How did the Romans rise to become the greatest empire in the history of the world?

They never gave up. I tried to quit drinking lots of times. LOTS of times. I got beat. But I never gave up. I regrouped nursed my wounds and tried again.

That what the Romans did. You could wipe out legion after legion. They just raised another and came at you again. They never stopped. That's why they never really failed. If you can get up again and try again. Even after failing. You're going to be OK. It's when you stop trying. That' when you've really lost. So never give up. Just the fact that your trying means your not beat.

So that really makes all of us really Roman. Even after we trip up.

Check Hannibal out he was really bad @ss
