getting off zanax
My daughter takes zanax for anxiety attacks and also because she has CMT. She wants to quit taking it because she says it no longer helps her but when she does that she has seizures. Her doctor says not to stop. I am not asking for medical advice, just any experience anyone has had with zanax
Hi fullcircle
Has her doctor explained why they think she should keep taking it?
I'm assuming your daughter is an adult - if she is not satisfied with the explanation, I'd seek a second opinion...
but given she's having seizures trying to get off them, if it was me, I would definitely not undertake any course of action without medical supervision or approval.

If your daughter is an adult I would suggest she get a Second Opinion from another doctor.
You can also direct her to the following site which explains about Xanax:
Xanax Withdrawal Symptoms - How to Get off Xanax — ChooseHelp.com
Wherein it has a section under "Treatment" where 'tapering' is suggested which might help her greatly in discussing her desire to get off with the Second Opinion Doctor.
Please keep posting and let us know how YOU are doing as we do care very much.
Love and hugs,

Dangerous...
You work with a doctor to begin taking Xanax, and you work with a doctor to stop taking Xanax. Doing so on your own can be deadly.
Doctors rarely just say, "keep taking it" without an explanation. There is more to this story.
Good luck and God Bless.
