Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.

I think Step Three is a good spot to be for me as my son begins his own recovery. I feel that have to really analyze and recognize what "my will" is so that I know to turn it over to my HP. I want to impose "my will" on my son. Isn't that what really talented co-dependents do? I need to recognize that I can't impose "my will" on my son and I need to turn my will over to my HP and let him do his job.

I need to really concentrate on turning my LIFE over to the care of God and trust Him to lead me.

TURNING MY WILL, MY DESIRES, MY WANTS, AND MY LIFE, MY EXISTENCE OVER TO ...... who?

When I took my 3rd step with my sponsor I was asked to look up "WILL"
since I was going to be "turning my will and my life" over to someone or
something.

I was stunned to see the words "WILL = desires" My will = my wants

You would think that I knew the definition of "will" but who uses
"my will" in a conversation. Not many people.

So what I was going to be doing was turning over all my desires,
all my wants, what I wanted out of life,
as well as my life, my 98.6 temperature existence over
to my higher power,
I wasn't going to have ME in control of those things anymore.

That was a really BIG thing, a much bigger step than I thought
step 3 was going to be.

So I was going to be subjugating my desires,
turning all my desires, my wants,
who I wanted to marry,
what I wanted to do as a career,
where I wanted to go, where I wanted to live,
I was making a decision to not be in charge of running my life anymore.
I was going to be turning this all over to a power greater than myself,
a g.o.d. that I could not "see, touch, smell, hear, etc, etc, etc"
and couldn't prove who existed or did not exist.

Turning all my desires
and turning all of my life over to the care of god as I understood him.
WOW

WOW, WOW WOW WOW WOW!!!!

That was a much bigger step in life
than just
"making a decision to turn my will and my life over to the care
of god as i understood him"

Thank goodness it said "care of"
implying that I at least was giving it to someone who would
take care of it.

Much AA love to you all,
Matt

I focus on the word "care" and move on to the next step.
