100 Day Thank You to SR
100 Day Thank You to SR
How fitting my 100 day sober anniversary falls on Thanksgiving in Canada. I have so much to be thankful for on this day, and I owe such a profound debt of thanks to everybody here on SR who made this day possible.
In the past I gravitated to rope solo rock climbing (easy stuff...I was never that good at it), did most of my hiking and camping alone in the mountains, and in team sports like lacrosse and hockey I played goal. I've never been a club kind of guy, so the group support of face to face recovery groups didn't appeal to me. That's why this forum was so important.
SR, with its cagey "old" veterans dispensing sound advice, and the desperate newcomers trying to figure it all out gave me a lifeline to hold onto. Early in my recovery I spent many hours reading over past threads and clicking on the links for further research. There were many times where I found clarity in someone else's post to something that was bothering me that I hadn't been able to formulate into words yet.
A very special thanks, and one that brings tears to my eyes as I type it, is for my fellow travellers in the 90 day to six month range. They and I have an understanding of each other that in some ways goes deeper than with our best life long friends, or even our loving spouses.
Thank you all.

Your post brought tears to my eyes. Your posts and encouragement over the past 100 days means a great deal to me. And I am so glad that you made it to triple digits sober days!
I love it that you are just one day behind me in sober days. I always feel like you have my back - that you are just one step behind me on this sober path.

Double thanks to everybody again.
I joined two forums as soon as I quit drinking, but didn't feel comfortable in either of them. I found SR on day four, and believe I said at the time, "I have found my happy place".
Lucky me
