"We usually conclude the period of meditation with a prayer that we
be shown all through the day what our next step is to be, that we be
given whatever we need to take care of such problems. We ask
especially for freedom from self-will, and are careful to make no
request for ourselves only. We may ask for ourselves, however, if
others will be helped. We are careful never to pray for our own
selfish ends. Many of us have wasted a lot of time doing that and it
doesn't work."

I struggle with this sometimes. I don't usually pray for myself- aside from something like 'God please show me the next right thing'.
Where I run into issues is with praying for others. In praying that they find happiness, am I not putting my will onto them? What about praying they find God's path? Or even that they would be open to finding it...
I don't have an answer for that- and don't expect to find it here on Earth... but I think about it nonetheless.

I hear ya NG. I went through the same thing. Now, what I do is pray that "they" can have the same thing I want: clarity about their truth, knowledge of God's will for them and the power to carry it out, and a deeper relationship with Him.
