Promises
^*^*^*^*^
"We are going to know a new freedom and a new happiness.
We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it.
We will comprehend the word serenity and we will know peace.
No matter how far down the scale we have gone,
we will see how our experience can benefit others.
That feeling of uselessness and self-pity will disappear.
We will lose interest in selfish things
and gain interest in our fellows.
Self-seeking will slip away.
Our whole attitude and outlook upon life will change.
Fear of people and of economic insecurity will leave us.
We will intuitively know how to handle
situations which used to baffle us.
We will suddenly realize that God is doing for us
what we could not do for ourselves."

Thought to Consider . . .

The Promises are a result; not a right.

The Promises are REAL; not wishful thinking.

How do I know this for certain?

Because I never wanted to "Gain interest in my fellow alcoholics". It's almost like I got a new addiction. I have a compulsive urge to help other alcoholics.

That's the bad news. The good news is - I never landed in jail, the hospital or rehab as the result of this compulsion (except to deliver the message).

Fear of of economic insecurity will leave us.
This promise was the first one I really noticed in my life

I had switched from a stressful..cash happy job
into one that benefited my new goal of solid recovery.

As my recovery has grown....my finances have shrunk.
I'm pocketbook poor... spirit rich....
