Hanging in There
Hanging in There
I just got back from a 3-day weekend camping with friends. This has been a tradition that we have done on the same date for years and has always been an excuse for me to do some heavy drinking. This year I DID NOT! And I still had a great time. I also noticed that most of the people there really did not drink much either. The one guy, who used to get smashed along with me didn’t make it this year and I was actually releived. Drinking was all we really had in common and I was planning to not hang out with him. He knows I’ve been working on sobriety and he probably would not have missed my company anyway As it was, the normal (and non) drinkers in the crowd were much more enjoyable to carry on a conversation with while hanging out around the campfire.
By the way, today is 9 months since my last drink! It honestly did not even occur to be until I started writing this message…. How cool is that?

Great post BBR. To take a trip that you usually associate with drinking and abstain for the duration is quite an accomplishment. Congrats on 90 days! The fact that it didn't even really occur to you is encouraging to someone like me who is going through Day 4.
