Introducing Myself
Introducing Myself
Hi, my name's AlcoholicJoe and I'm an alcoholic.
I'm a 34 year old British guy, living near Sheffield in the UK. I've been sober for just over six weeks now, and although it's going OK at the moment I know that there will be tough times ahead if I'm to remain sober.
My drinking problems probably started around 15 years ago, but in the last few years it really spiralled out of control. Everything is a mess, but I'm trying to recover one day at a time.
I've started going to A.A. meetings and it's a help, but I wanted to see what other things I could turn to in addition to that on the net. So I stumbled across this site and I can see that it would be very helpful to hang out here.
I've also started a blog since I figure that it could be therapeutic to write about things...
I'm sure I'll have much more to say here over the coming days/weeks/months/years as I hopefully continue my recovery.
Thanks for listening

Wow, six months already.
Thanks for joining, I'm only in my fourth day and six months seems like an aeon away.
If you need a rejuvenation of your commitment to sobriety maybe you should join the May group. hope this helps?

Actually Margareth, it's only six weeks, not six months I'm afraid! Still, hopefully I will make it to six months and beyond and I hope that you will find your way to doing the same too...
Thank you everyone for the warm welcome!
Dee74: I see that you removed the link to my blog - apologies, I didn't realise such links were not allowed here, I'll be more careful in future.
Thanks everyone.

Hey there Joe,
Welcome to the SR family!
I've been on here since getting sober back in February and just reached my 100th day sober yesterday. During that time I've gotten a huge amount of strength and support from this community - I wouldn't have reached this far without them!!
Congratulations on your 6 weeks - that's already a huge achievement!
I look forward to reading your posts :-)
Cheers,
Almath

Alright mate. Good to see another person from England on SR!
SR is a great recovery resource. It has helped me so much. I hope it will help you too.
keep reading, posting and identifying.
Remember to take everything 'One day at a time'. Don't worry about drinking into the future. Just make sure that whatever happens you don't take that first drink 'just for today'. One is too many and 100000 never enough!
Nice one on 6 weeks too.
All The best
