Ten Days Shy
Hi SR Friends. I am ten days shy of my 2 year anniversary of sobriety. It is amazing how time flies by. It seemed to stand still for the first two months I was sober and now? I almost can't believe it! I was one who, like many of you probably, could not begin to imagine an evening out on the porch without a buzz on. How could that possibly be enjoyable??? How could ANYTHING be fun anymore?
I want to say to anyone struggling right now with this- Keep at it. The void that alcohol leaves in your life, in time, will be filled by many blessings. I know this to be true. It is beyond what I imagined and I thank God and I thank you for helping me.
I continue this journey and pray for strength to continue fighting the good fight! I wish all of you the very best.

Hi Liberty. Thank you for your post - it's exactly the kind of thing to read to help bolster my resolve. Sitting peacefully in the spring sun without a buzz to cloud the senses.... I have posts like yours to thank for reminding me that a clear head makes everything sooooo much better, and in many ways, much easier.
Congrats on your many days of sobriety, and I wish you many more

Yes, I woke up today and it's almost dawn....and as the sky is showing a small sign of the morning light breaking through, the birds are tweeting...
As I was waking up I was feeling a bit down about a medical condition I just found out about (chronic but not usually life threatening) and then I read your post...and remembered that I am happy that I am sober, and hearing the birds at this hour with a clear head...
Your post is inspiring and reminded me of good things ahead in sobriety.
Thanks! And congratulations on two years! I am looking forward to being able to post that also someday (I am only three months along)! Stories like yours keep me on the road. Take good care.
