My boyfriend of 1 year is supposedly two months sober, he was/is a binge drinker. Two months is the longest he has been sober since I have known him. It seems that everytime he gets close to a month of sobriety he starts detaching from me- he broke-up with me--I dont know if this is because he is on the brink of a binge or because he is focused on treatment. Im just wondering if anyone else has a similiar experience.

I don't know that anyone here can tell you for sure what your bf (or is he an ex - I'm a little confused?) is thinking.

Have you asked him straight out what's going on?

It could be either reason that is causing your boyfriend's behaviour.

What I know is that recovery involves a lot of very difficult changes in life. It might be a good idea for you to check out AlAnon and also the Friends & Families forums on this board.
