Std test
I know I have to get one. But I'm having trouble actually making the appointment.
My suspicions that he cheated are massive. I've got that terrible gut feeling. Alchohol, marijuana, tobacco, porn, lying....all such a massive red neon sign that said 'TURN BACK, DON'T GO THERE' But I did. I was stupid. Perhaps I don't want to get this test because I'm scared that I will have that 'stupid' sign stamped on my head forever or something.
I don't know why I am putting this off so much. I hate him for making me do this after 4 and a half years. Hate. Hate. Hate

And yet, normaeinstein, I see this as a sign of progress on your part. You have progressed to the stage where you are no longer taken in by the quacking. You have your suspicions and you're willing to consider getting tested, which is a sign of self care. You're coming out of denial! Stop beating yourself up about it and be kind to yourself. Hindsight is always 20/20, we have all made decisions that, looking back, we regret. Forgive yourself, accept and go take care of YOU!

i have an appointment for one tomorrow. i think it depends on which tests? for hiv its a blood sample but not sure about the others.
i have got BAD uti's and i am not sure why so that is the reason im going.... when i asked my bf he got angry and told me he has nothing. lol! and i said well if you got nothing then prove it with a paper. i told him i was not going to have an uti pain again, and its always after some "action"...
so when he asked when we would be together again i told him "after i see your paper and show you mine and i got to my doc and she treats me and said treatment is over"
sheesh.. anyway norma, just do it, dont think , just call... i will tell you how it goes for me... as far as i know its a blood test but even if its something more uncomfortable, its better to know and treat it NOW... afterwards it may be too late. and remember docs. and med staff do that everyday so its nothing special, they are even bored.. shame kills many women... be thankful you got access to labs and docs and can afford them when sadly many people cant.
thanks book!! very comforting post.

Oh norma, I'm so sorry. Is it not bad enough all the behavior you are affected by but now the concern over contracting an illness because you tried to gain some intimacy out of this relationship.
You are not doing yourself any favors by stalling. The longer you stall, the harder it's going to be to get in there at all. You will still have to wait, I'm sure, for test results so why add extra waiting. Whatever the results you never have to risk your health again for him if you chose not to. Not ever!
Is there anyone you can tell about the need for the test who will grab your hand and march you to the appointment if need be? Friends are great for that sort of thing.
((hugs))

Norma: Sorry you are in this position but you are smart to deal with it. I just had "the works" today--std testing because my husband has been having an affair with a secretary in our office. The testing involved a blood test, a urine test, and was done at the same time as my pap smear---so really no big deal. Please make the appointment and get it done....it won't take any time at all.
