Traveling Help

I am going to be out of the country for a week and the place I am going does not have AA meetings. I was hoping for two things (1) any advice to help when you can't get to meetings and (2) any links or connections to online meetings?

Thanks goodness I will have access to inter (though I am not sure how good it will be) and to SR!

Thanks a bunch!
Lindsay

1. Bring your Big Book with you and read read read. Any other recovery literature is great too.

2. There are meetings in the chat room here on SR.

3. It only takes two people to have an AA meeting. Where the heck are you going that doesn't have meetings? Lol.

4. If you're in an airport have them page "a friend of Bill W." Never tried it but I've heard it can have amazing results.

5. Pray

Best wishes to you Lindsay, I hope your trip goes well.

I don't go to meetings.. ever. I find the strength within myself and my committment to sobriety to see me through. Maybe have friends you can call if you're feeling funky, or just log on here, there's always folks to talk to. Just don't drink.

i would add, Call your sponsor daily, to the suggestions Astro mentioned.

Here's a couple links to online A.A. chat meetings;

A.A. Chat Rooms

AA Online Meeting Schedule

AA Live Chat Meeting Directory

Praying you have a safe and sober journey.

Here's the info for AA's General Service Office in Costa Rica, it couldn't hurt to call them when you get there and inquire about resources in the area.

Oficina de Servicios Generales (Costa Rica)
Calles 7 y 9 Avenida 12
100 Metro Al Sur y 75 Al Oeste de Acueductos y Alcantarillados
San Jose, , Costa Rica
Phone: (506) 2222-5224

And here's a link to AA's Online Intergroup site, with an extensive list of online meetings and resources Email English

Check with these folks, you may find a meeting or two in Tambora Costa Rica:

COSTA RICA
Oficina de Servicios Generales (Costa Rica)
Calles 7 y 9 Avenida 12
100 Metro Al Sur y 75 Al Oeste de Acueductos y Alcantarillados
San Jose, , Costa Rica
Phone506) 2222-5224
Fax506) 2258-4715
Email: osgcr******.es

This is from the World Services International Site of AA.

Hope that helps.

Also, paging in an airport does work. One time flying to florida, and everything was delayed due to plane problems or whatever, I was in Houston, so I had them page for any friends of Bill W. ..................................... 8 people showed up and 4 of them were on the same flight I was. WE HAD A WONDERFUL TIME until the plane was ready to take off.

Hope that helps,

Love and hugs,

I was just going to tell you to bring some literature that you can read and to come here as much as you need. I don't use AA but I'm sure you can get alot of the meetings and chats on this site. Everyone had great suggestions I guess that is why I love this site. I really don't think I could have done it without them.
