My Father in law has MRSA! Prayers please
My diabetic father in law has been in the hospital for the last 2 days and we found out this morning that he has MRSA. MRSA is a staff infection that is untreatable with antibiotics. He now has blisters popping up on his "good" leg and peeling wounds. He is very sick!!!! His temperature is 105 degrees. No one knows where he contracted the MRSA, but he is in and out of doctors offices all the time.
I am asking for prayers for him, his name is David. I know God can work miracles... Please pray for my mother in law Gloria as well.

Prayers for David.
I have been hospitalized for this 3 times...contacted it when I was working as a nurse. There are antibiotics that will treat it, but only a few, and it is a serious infection; add diabetes to the mix and I totally understand your concern.
Hugs and prayers!

You and your family have been added to 2 prayers list, so coming to you from NM.
Please note that MRSA is treatable. It is extensive but it is treatable:
MRSA Infection Symptoms, Causes, Treatment, Prevention and Diagnosis on MedicineNet.com
Understanding MRSA Diagnosis and Treatment
Yes it is harder in a diabetic, but it can be overcome.
There are lots of sites that can tell you and the family more about it and give you Hope, here's the 'google' I did:
Google
Hope that helps a bit.
Again prayers winging their way to you and your family.
Love and hugs,

Just got a call... The MRSA is in his heart and kidneys, but Gloria is remaining optimistic. They are in Orlando so we are trying to decide if we need to get out there right away.
We actually don't know yet if the MRSA is in his heart or kidneys. My husband was so upset when he talked with his mother that was the interpretation he made... He's scared.
They are wating for the infectious disease doctor to come in and let them know how far it has traveled.

(((Suzette))) When I was logging on, for some reason I had the strong need to send you a PM to let you know I was thinking of you. After I sent it, I clicked on New Posts and saw this thread. I tried to send you another PM to let you know that I had no idea about your Father in Law but your mailbox is full. I don't want you to think I am heartless for not mentioning it in the PM, I just didn't know yet.
I have a friend who lives in Wyoming & got out of the hospital about 4 - 5 weeks ago with the same thing. She ran a very high fever as well. She's not diabetic but has numerous other health problems and she's fine now, onery as ever. I know you have had many, many things thrown at you lately but remember, God never gives us more than we can handle. I don't think you realize just how strong of a woman you truly are. You are an inspiration to so many on here and dearly loved so I know there will be a huge amount of Prayers going up for David, Gloria, You and everyone else in the Family. Please keep us updated when possible and remember, we love you and are with you in spirit.
Love, hugs and Prayers,
Judy

I'm sorry I forgot to include Gloria, earlier in my prayers..I didn't read far enough.
Infectious disease doctors are awesome. When I first was treated for this, it was fairly new and when dad/stepmom/Brit came to see me, they had to wear those lovely yellow gowns and masks. If I hadn't been a nurse, and KNOWN I wasn't dying, I'd have been scared to death.
It IS still scary, as is any infection, but medicine has come a long way. I am addding prayers to the doctors and nurses treating David, and of course you and your family are ALWAYS in my prayers.
Hugs and prayers!

Prayers going up now... :praying:
And I know, it works. Miracles happen.
My mother, also diabetic..developed sepsis after gall bladder surgery in October
2007 at the age of 83. Septic shock episodes..then ecoli. We know, it was prayer
combined with "good medicine" and doctors that she is still with us.
Fervent prayers for David.
And mom in law...

Things are looking up! They found an antibiotic that seems to be working. His foot and leg are still quite swollen and we are waiting to see if he will lose his toe, foot or leg. He lost his right leg a few years ago due to an infection in a wound. My mother in law and he seem to get along very well in everyday life; however if he were to lose his other foot or leg she would no longer be able to care for him.
Asking for continued prayers.
