3 weeks

I made an apperence on this forum awhile back when I wasn't close to being ready to give up drinking. After a long time spent loosing myself further, I finally checked into an IOP recovery program. I am not three weeks sober, and seeing life through a new pair of eyes, or, more accurately, the pair of eyes I lost a long time ago.

I'm ready for change and ready for life again.

And,
I'm happy

welcome back otis! its so great to hear you are doing well. do you think it is the iop that is working, or just feeling good at being sober? just curious.

For the first time I knew I wanted and needed to stop, and I knew that I couldn't do it on my own. The help through the withdrawal was the first big step, as trying to detox myself always landed me with a drink in my hand. The group support, seeing people graduate with light in their eyes and seeing the newcomers come in so down trodden and dark, and then watching them realize they aren't alone. I feel for the first time I have direction. Its a huge struggle every day, but I want this. I am fighting for my life for the first time. There is a long road ahead of me, but for today I am going to keep walking.

Good for you, Otis!

Yes, there is a long road ahead of you, but it is an exciting road.

Congrats on three weeks Otis, so what are you planning on doing after IOP is over with? Do they suggest anything for long term recovery after you leave IOP.

Congrats on three weeks. I bet you feel a whole lot better than you did three weeks ago!

I am 7 months sober and someone said to me that even though getting sober is hard, it's worth it because you never know what gifts sobriety has in store for you. I am grateful every day to be sober.
