But can I speed things up somehow? I know about the B vitamins, eating right, drinking lots of water. Sleep has been a challenge since I quit a week ago. Any advice? Thought it would be over by now...
You are likely in acute alcohol withdrawal, which is not the same thing as what SurlyRedHead and I responded to.
Acute alcohol withdrawal kills people - it is 7 times more deadly than opiate withdrawal. You need to go see a Dr or go to the ER asap.
I am not BSing you, this damn near killed me. Both the aching bones and chest pain are serious symptoms.

Get your butt to a Dr. please.

By 2 months of AA recovery
I was back in balance ...physically and mentally.
I was following a plan for healthy eating
for my brain and body
attending AA daily for my new lifestyle.
Hope you continue to find your way

2 or 3 months.. but even now I feel better than I did a month ago.
I never had chest pains or achy bones though, if that's what you're asking specifically about. I highly recommend going to the ER if that is what you're experiencing, detox can be fatal.
And I don't know what you mean by normal.. I had drank for so long, this has to be my new, very healthy 'normal'.

I'm with everyone else on the two weeks. I would say that it was at least a month before I really felt that my body was feeling 100%. With that I also started getting some exercise. I was already eating much better.
Definitely see a doctor though. Even if for just a "check-up" it would be good to tell the doctor what you're going through and for them to be able to check all your stats.
