Starting to smile again
Starting to smile again
Hi all
Day 7 for me and Im feeling great, woke up without a hangover again, so proud of that acheivement.
Beginning to smile again and laugh like I havent in ages, really didnt think that was possible- Still feeling lonely and slightly confused but that I can deal with, sobriety is a wonderful feeling and something to cherish, one minute, hour and day at a time is all I need to stop me thinking about picking up that first drink.
Only thing is now I smoke cigerettes like theres no tommorow, maybe because its giving me something to do or replacing the bottle i would be holding, need to quit, want my fitness back, Arrrrgggghhh. Did anyone else have this problem?

Congrats on 7 days. That is a great start and just don't drink. Are you going to meetings or using any support groups for your recovery?
Yeah I have packed on a few pounds since I quit too, but they can never arrest me for DWF - driving while fat!

Congratulations Fletch. :HONYSparkler:
The first week is the hardest. I don't smoke but I ate a lot of candy I shouldn't have in the first week.
I am back on a fitness kick now.
Keep up the good work.

Yeah I go to two AA meetings a week which has really helped me, so much support and love, really helps to speak to people face to face about my disease.
I will definantly keep the meetings up, it gets me out of the house and back socialising with people.
Dont know whats worse smoking or sweets ;0)

I wouldn't worry too much about the smoking and eating. Sobriety is the #1 priority. Everything else in it's own time.
Plus those people at meetings keep offering me cake, coffee, and cigarettes!
It's awesome when we start feeling good about life again. 15 months sober and that feeling is still with me.

Hi Fletch! Great work on 7 days.
I noticed I smoked a lot more too in the first couple weeks. I also craved sweets like they were going out of style. With a good diet (no more beer for dinner), and some vitamin supplements that has gone away.
As I've become more comfortable in my own skin--the smoking has waned a bit as well.

It's next on my list.

hey!!
i'm also on day 7 and feel great! this isn't my first run with sobriety, though, but I can remember when I first got clean cigarettes were my crutch. I actually JUST quit smoking, but it took me a while (and a lot of planning) to feel okay enough to stop smoking. Try to cut yourself a break, besides, for right now, a cigarette is far better than relapsing.
Happy Friday! I hope it's a good one. Stay safe!
