Cigarettes are starting to taste like #&*!

Are you giving some thought to quitting Mike? I have no smoking experience, but I was a smokeless tobacco user for 27 years. Just the way I see it, they're both oral obsessions and I know I'd get a brief high from the nicotine.
I tried myriads of ways to quit over the years. My wives begging me to do it for them or the kids, the fear of cancer, using herbal substitutes, etc. Nothing worked, until I was pointed towards this site WhyQuit - the Internet's leading cold turkey quit smoking resource For some reason the stories on there scared the &%$# out of me and I quit cold turkey.
There are many resources out there, and plenty of links here on SR in the Nicotine forum. I've heard others in recovery share that the 12 Steps can be applied to cessation also, ie: Step 1: Admitted we were powerless over tobacco, our habit had become unmanageable, etc. I hope you'll give it a shot and find something that works for you.
Man, I can't even begin to describe how good food tastes these days!

Prayers going out for your friend Mike, I hope you find it within yourself to make this a goal.
There's a couple guys at my AA meetings who tote around oxygen tanks.....and they're still smoking away

Hi,
I have a whopping one day so far but I am done for good. They really didn't taste good anymore and the effect of the nicotine was not pleasure, it only reduces the stress my body had from being addicted to it.
Thanks for posting, just reading it strengthens my fortitude to never smoke again. Hang around here, I did for just a few days and wound up stopping. These folks are very helpful!!

Starting to taste like ass?
I never smoked a cigarette that didn't.
It was just a way of getting the drug nicotine into my body because I was addicted.
Food tastes good. Candy tastes good. Burning tobacco smoke tastes terrible, IMO.
