new here!
Hi, I've been a creepy lurker for a few days now and finally decided to register. My last drunk was Monday night in which I blacked out and cracked up my car. Enough is enough and I haven't touched a drop since. I'm 31 years old, 2 kids, and although I am a highly functioning alky- have pretty much been a daily drinker since 17 or so. I have struggled to stop and with "do I have a problem? or not?" for the past year or so. So, here I am.

Welcome to SR.
I would say smacking up your car while you are drinking is a pretty big problem.
If you want to quit there is plenty of support here and plenty of knowledge from people that are quitting.
If you decide that you don't have a problem and continue drinking sociably please do not drink and drive.

Welcome to the family!:ghug3 I'm glad you found us. It is possible to stop drinking, one day at a time. Have you considered asking your doctor for help in detoxing?
Altho if you haven't touched a drop in five days you should be pretty much over the withdrawal. Have you thought about giving AA a try? It's free, it's everywhere, and lots of support in those rooms.
THere are other sobriety programs out there too. The important thing is to just NOT DRINK TODAY. You can only live one day at a time, so stay sober one day at a time too. You can do this. We are here to support you.

WELCOME, FINDMYSELFSOBER!!!
So glad you decided to post after "lurking" for a bit!!! We are all like YOU here... Trying to find a new life outside the booze/bottle and whatever else we may use to obliviate ourselves into darkness!
For me, I was a functioning alcoholic/addict for many years (so I thought)... Somewhere along the line -- that changed BIG TIME! Through the years it worsened and I finally got to the point of being an around the clock drinker! Life ceased to exist for me.
You're here and sober today! You've got a beautiful chance at a brand spanking new life alcohol free. You don't have to lose everything before you get sober... You don't have to go down the paths some of us had to before surrendering!
Just for today.... let's stay sober, K?!! We are all in this crazzzzy life together so let's STICK together!
