A sober day!

I'm out of town for a business meeting. Usually at this meeting, 'happy' hour starts and noon and goes for the entire weekend.

Today, I had a sugar free raspberry ice tea with my lunch, and it was Deeeelicious!

As I was eating, I looked around at what others were drinking. Most everyone was doing water or a soft drink.

I'm not sure what I'm trying to say, here. I guess that sobriety is a work in progress. And, I'm proud of that progress.

How is everyone else enjoying a sober day?

coffenut,

Enjoying my sober day too. Something I noticed when I quit drinking was how many people don't drink! And how often other people joined me in not drinking.

Glad you're enjoying your sober day too!

Love,

Lenina

Isnt it funny how you become more aware of things when you change something?
Glad you had iced tea. And a good kind.
Keep it up.

Okay, I gotta share how the dinner went. Wine was ordered and I simply said, I'll have iced tea. No one looked at me, no bells went off, nothing happened other than the waitress saying, okay!

Then a toast, and everyone lifted their glass of wine, and I lifted my glass of tea.

Best damn tea I've ever had.

We can do this! WE CAN!

SR Rocks!

See.. people really are much more self consumed than we think..

No one has batted an eye at my sudden taste for sprite instead of 5 or 6 rum n diet cokes.

Good job coffeenut! I will be there soon enough, but to hear someone else doing well is music to my ears!

Can you tell me what you do to keep yourself occupied that doesn't involve drinking?

It CAN be done, sno. I drank Heavily for 30 years. I'll have 7 months in a week or so. And I will NOT be drinking again. Won't happen.

I do everything I did before, I just now remember what I did.

It really isn't a matter of keeping occupied, I think that can be a cop out, sometimes. If you are going to drink, you will find the time. I just finally had enough of my disgusting self absorbed behavior.

One thing I have changed, I guess....is that I come to SR. Depends on the day. Sometimes hourly, sometimes daily. The people here know what you've been through. I looked through your thread....wow! Lots of good advice, from good people.

Also, I read all I can on alcoholism and sobriety.

So, I guess you are right, I do some things to keep me occupied!

Welcome to sr, sno. You can do this. You MUST want it, though. You have to want it so much your guts ache.

Yes, it can be done all we need is the willingness. Keep posting and reading it helps. Glad to hear your dinner went so well. I remember the first time I was at dinner with about fifteen people and only two of us were not drinking alcohol. I started to realize during it that I was actually having a great time something I did not think possible without drinking.
