Two charged after baby swallows drug

A 24-year-old man and 22-year-old woman have been charged in relation to a baby who remains in a critical condition after swallowing a drug.

The Victorian man and woman were holidaying in Cairns when a two-month-old baby girl had a seizure after swallowing a tablet believed to be a drug, police said.

The baby remains in a critical but stable condition in Cairns Base Hospital.

Detectives on Monday charged the man and woman with one count each of grievous bodily harm and possession of a dangerous drug.

They will appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on Tuesday.



I dont know this baby or (thankgod) the parents
I firmly feel that there is NO excuse for this & they should be punished to FULL extent of the law.
That aside, please keep this little one in your prayers, hopefully she will recover & have a chance at life, a REAL chance...
how sad this is, people on drugs are so irresponsible & selfish.

ahhhhh........terrible terrible terrible......makes me very sad.........it happens in this country a fair bit..
My heart felt prayers to to the child..........god protect them..
Makes me feel like kicking the fk out of the parents...
And then just as i climb on my pedestal....i remember driving drunk with my daughter in the car and i shake my head in shame..
God protect all children from active addicts and alcoholics today...:praying

As the detective said, "2 month old babies don't and can't help themselves to Ecstasy tablets". I was as horrified as most people, and prayed for that innocent little life to be spared and unharmed. Latest medical report is that the babe is out of Intensive Care and is expected to make a full recovery. I am now praying for the parents, that they also will get full recovery from the need to have some drug tampering with their bodies and lives, and that the only "buzz" they will need is that from seeing this child grow up healthy and strong.

Hope the child gets a break in foster care and is one of the very few lucky ones to make it into adulthood with some sort of future ahead of them.

That just flat breaks my heart....I hope they all get the help they need. Prayers.

A very sad story. Prayers are going up for both the baby and the babies parents. Although I am sickened by what they did, there is possibly still a chance for the family unit. If the parents will get and stay clean they may be completely different people.

Meanwhile - I am disgusted by their actions!!!
