I am thankful that I made it another year, without causing much harm to myself or anyone else. I am thankful that I did not lose anyone in my family this year. I am thankful to have my kids and husband here with me. I am thankful that God granted me another day clean. I am thankful that my mother has survived another year cancer free. Whoo! Thanks for posting this thread! It helps to count your blessings and stop feeling sorry for yourself!

I am thankful that I am no longer taking opiates.( I actually quit smoking too) I am thankful for the help I got on SR. I am thankful that this one act on my part is trickling down into every part of my life. Helping me to become the man I was, and the man I know I can be, for my family and myself.

We don't have Thanksgiving over here. hmmmph.

Thankful for:
1) Winter - so I can hide away in the dark while I try and learn to live again.
2) Kids appear to be in one piece, in spite of the bad parenting of the last few years.
3) People on SR
4) People at AA
5) Music
6) My HP
7) Health
8) My job

and I forgot to add SR too!! You guys are a GREAT support system and without you sometimes it would be a really bad day! I can "journal" how I feel with intelligent feedback. So I am very thankful for SR, and I forgot to add, for the time being, I am thankful to have my nice little apartment. And thankful the boys dont have school so we can sleep in,LOL. Love, Becky

This Thanksgiving I'm most thankful for: My family, my husband, my daughter, God's love, my loyal pets, my sense of humor and still having my child-like appreciation of the little things like clouds, t'storms and listening to the birds sing!

~Hope ((everyone)) has a blessed and happy Thanksgiving Day!!

this thanksgiving I am thankful for many things...

my life
my sobriety
my relationship w/ my HP
my friends in NA
my wonderful husband... he loved me when I was using, but loves me even better now, the way I've always needed to be loved.
my beautiful, special daughter... she has also loved me all along, but has shown so much grace and understanding as she watches her Mommy make this major transformation.
my parents... they love me enough but not too much.
my brothers and sister... for learning from me so they dont have too...
my sweet 3 yr. old nephew... my 'beautiful boy' (thanks John Lennon)
my job... it keeps me very, very busy, but busy is good for me right now. I know several people who have lost their jobs recently, I feel fortunate to still have mine.

but, most of all...

truth and acceptance... all the people that matter know my 'secret' now. It was an exhausting way to live before, my truth is bringing a long anticipated calm & serenity. Still paying for mistakes, but no longer hiding.

...this reflection has been nice, thx...

you sound like you have such a wonderful life and support system. Thats fantastic. I envy you, I lost my family(for that and various other reasons) but ultimately, I lost my job, family, dignity, I just fell down into a pit.

BUT I am thankful that I may get a shot at suboxone, I think with the right support system, I can beat this thing!! I hear its amazing (thanks BV) and am so thankful to my family for getting the money together for my Christmas gift!!

Its a gift of life, and for that I am VERYYYYY Thankful!!!

One more thing I am thankful for:

This will be my first Thanksgiving in more than half of my life that I am not worrying if I will be able to get my DOC so I can get dinner ready and function for my family. I will not have to "run out" for any of the stupid reasons that I have come up with in the past, during Thanksgiving dinner, so I can keep my high. I will not be running to the bathroom every 10 minutes (again coming up with more lies) so I can do another line. I will be here both physically and emotionally for my family tomorrow, without the aid of drugs. This is a gift from God and no matter what other struggles I may have, I am grateful for that.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!! May you and your families enjoy a peaceful, healthful holiday!!
