My Recycling Trash Bin

This may sound completely ridiculous and shallow- but I am actually very pleased about the way my recycling trash bin looks these past 10 days. For years and years, each day it was full of beer cans and wine bottles- and now (I am 10 days sober today) it is full of empty juice cartons, egg crates and cracker boxes. When I look at it- it really hits me that I am living differently and it makes me feel so much better.

Who would have ever thought that looking at your trash can could bring such peace of mind?? Life is funny.

Thanks for being here SR peeps!

I'm happy with not having to hide my wine bottles in the trash so the kids wouldn't see them!

So glad someone as well as me finds that something tobe grateful for I commented to my oh the other day how empty our can and bottle recycling bin was, and how full our plastics was - with water bottles!!

Now if there was a sweetie wrapper recycling bin, that would be overflowing at the moment

How strange, I was just thinking the same thing. This week will be the first time since our recycling scheme began that there are no wine bottles overflowing out of my green bin LOL!! I used to have to hide them under other things because I was so embarassed of my neighbours seeing them!!

Good for you - you are not only recycling, but you are not drinking. Talk about the best of both worlds.

Oh don't get me wrong, I am not the good (HA!)- I have hidden TONS of booze bottles over the years in every possible cabinet, drawer, closet etc there's a real art to it
and i've taken many sneaky trips out to the trash chute- not to mention the car was a hiding spot- UGH_ YUCK- so happy that is not me today!!!

YES! I have a very funny t-shirt that reads:
DON'T BE TRASHY
RECYCLE

.
I remember being quite annoyed when they started recycling bottles & cans many years ago. How dare they make me display what I was up to during my private time.

Whenever I'd try and throw stuff in the regular trash, my husband would take it out and put it in the recycling bin . .

But the embarrassment of all those bottles and cans never stopped me or slowed me down in the least.

Thank goodness I don't have to think about that any more!

You're not shallow at all....if fact, I think it's a great way to look at 10 days sober. Good for you.....recycling is overrated, anyway!
