I'm burned out (this could end up going long)
Hi all
Dunno where to start here....
I feel like I've got to the stage where I can't ignore my drinking problem or justify it by saying that all college kids drink a lot. It's starting to cause me liver pain the day after drinking, it's wasting my money, it makes me do dumb stuff that puts myself and others into potential danger, it's given me red cheeks that no longer go away the day after drinking, and it's made me f*ck up the last 18 months of my life.
It's a drain on me, financially, physically and emotionally.
I want to cut out drinking all together and get back to enjoying things instead of being the miserable cynic that I've turned into.
*sigh*
Any advice?

Hi Bob, and welcome to SR.
Advice? I'm not one to give much, since I've not been too successful so far... but I can say this...
For one thing, it's a great first step that you came here, admitted things, and show a desire to quit. All positives.
But if you truly want to change, truly want to "cut out drinking", there's only one thing to do: quit drinking. Today.
Easier said than done, I know. But that's what it boils down to.
Good luck, and we'll be here with you.

Glad you found us, Bob.
We're here for you 24/7/365.
Miracles happen everyday, only you can make that choice whether or not you will be one.
Opening up and sharing is a wonderful start.
God Bless,
Judy
Hi bobjackson,
I'm glad you're here and you can ask as many questions as you'd like. Maybe join on of the threads like "Under 2 weeks sober" or the "August 2008 class" to stay accountable. You don't have to be perfect and you don't have to face the "you already know" stuff. It's taken me a long time to quit drinking but some people just make a decision and do it. It's a lot to absorb but they have this wonderful saying that really does work once you get used to practicing it: one day at a time. Because that's all I can manage. That's all most of can manage. So glad you are here.
