Good Mojo Needed (OT)
Good Mojo Needed (OT)
My 10 month old has a small lump on her right thigh (to the side.) It's about the size of an almond. It doesn't hurt her when I push on it or feel it, but when she crawls, she doesn't like to bend that particular leg.
We're seeing a general surgeon tomorrow to get an initial examination. It's so scary for a little baby and scarier for me. I can't sleep. It's 1:30 am. I just want her to be ok.
So, I would really love some good mojo from you guys. I hope it's nothing serious and that it can be remedied w/o much trouble.
I'm going with my mom tomorrow to the doctor's. My RAH has a severe phobia/freakout deal with hospitals of any kind (his mother passed from cancer in 2002.) While I understand his trepidation, I also get angry sometimes that I have to do this alone and go w/o him. Thank heaven for moms.

sending out prayers and positive thoughts that all will be minor & treatable with this issue with your precious little one. Also thoughts of gratitude that your Mom can be there with you to lend the support that others are unable to give.
Please give us an update when you can.

Well, we’re back from the visit with the pediatric surgeon. The doctor thinks it’s a dermoid cyst. Link Here. She ruled out malignancy right away, which was good, though we will be doing an ultrasound to make extra double sure, and she wants to see what’s going on in there before the surgery.
Which leads me to the next part: surgery is highly suggested. The dermoid could become infected and then it would be a real mess (and it would have to come out then regardless.) And, the surgeon stated that she thought it would be a good time to do it, before E was really walking.
She would have to go under (and that’s the part that scares me the most.) It would be a day surgery. She would go in the morning and then be released to us later that day. She would get a numbing injection that would last a day, then Tylenol after that (which she said would work just fine.) Stitches would be on the inside and they would just naturally dissolve, but they are stitched up strong as babies move around and you can’t really keep them from crawling and getting up and down.
So, we’ll likely go in for the ultrasound here Friday or next week (Tuesday.) Then, we’ll schedule the surgery.
I have to say I’m relieved, but now I have a new set of worries to deal with. Little babies shouldn’t have to have surgery this young—even though it’s not terribly invasive and it’s a very very easy procedure.
I will definitely keep you all updated. Thank you SO MUCH for the nice wishes and wonderful posts of love. That meant so much to me during a really scary and uncertain time.

Hi Zombiewife
Thank you Lord that the baby is going to be fine!
You'd be surprised how fast a child recoops from things like this. Mom's suffer more than they do.
Sending prayers your way..
Hugs, Devastated.
