Miracles around me
My daugther phoned thsi morning to say she wopke up feeling great but hingry and her tummy was rumbling. That was the first time in 5 years that she has feelt hungry as she has an eating and anxiety disorder.
She sounded so happy and so she shoudl she has been facing it and taking lots of action recently.
I had and have again teras streaming down my face, tears of joy and relief.
Then I picked up my copy of Just For Today and read this:
May 3
Sharing Our Gratitude
"My gratitude speaks when I care and when I share with others the NA way."
Gratitude Prayer
The longer we stay clean, the more we experience feelings of gratitude for our recovery. These feelings of gratitude aren't limited to particular gifts like new friends or the ability to be employed. More frequently, they arise from the overall sense of joy we feel in our new lives. These feelings are enhanced by our certainty of the course our lives would have taken if it weren't for the miracle we've experienced in Narcotics Anonymous.
These feelings are so all-encompassing, so wondrous, and sometimes so overwhelming that we often can't find words for them. We sometimes openly weep with happiness while sharing in a meeting, yet we grope for words to express what we are feeling. We want so badly to convey to newcomers the gratitude we feel, but it seems that our language lacks the superlatives to describe it.
When we share with tears in our eyes, when we choke up and can't talk at all—these are the times when our gratitude speaks most clearly. We share our gratitude directly from our hearts; with their hearts, others hear and understand. Our gratitude speaks eloquently, though our words may not.
Just for today: My gratitude has a voice of its own; when it speaks, the heart understands. Today, I will share my gratitude with others, whether I can find the words or not.
Thank you all
I am so grateful for my life and I owe to you guys NA my sponsor and my Higher Power and to me as well.

Kevin,
Thank you for sharing that. The glimpse of what you may be going through or have gone through with your daughter is heartwrenching. I'm glad you shared it because it helps me know you better. I'm sorry for your struggle. And I am so happy and grateful myself, for YOUR gratitude in your life.
In an AA mtg today - we talked about God and our ideas of him. One of the things I could genuinely feel clear about was that the presence of gratitude is hugely related to God - no matter what form he takes or doesn't take. I didn't experence gratitude when I was drinking. I experienced thankfulness when I didn't get busted, that kind of thing. But it is nothing compared to the treary eyed welling from inside that says oh thank you thank you thank you. I'm glad you know gratitude.

Thank you also for sharing from "Just for today". Gratitude is the most underrated feeling I have ever experienced.

So glad your daughter is doing better. I am often overwhelmed at how grateful I am for my life, today - the good and the bad. While I don't LIKE the bad, I know it happens for a reason and there is a lesson I'm supposed to be learning.
Hugs and prayers to you and your daughter!

Prayers for your daughter to continue on a good path. I know how tough an eating disorder can be having suffered myself when I was younger. My 22 year old daughter has also suffered since she was 15. I believe that her eating disorder led her to opiates. So glad your daughter is choosing recovery. Hugs, Marle
