Keep Busy!

I have been clean and sober for over a month now and keeping busy has been a key factor in keeping me sane. The best distraction I have found is actually E-Bay(selling not buying) believe it or not.

I decided to get clean on a 3 month hiatus from work until the new restaurant opens. This left me with a lot of time on my hands, a small unemployment check and big bills. I decided to sell a few items on E-Bay to get a couple extra bucks to help with the bills and it has taken off from there.

I get up every day at 6AM and check out all the local classifieds for free or super cheap items. I spend a little time in the afternoon getting the stuff, and list them in the evening. In the meantime I am always engaged in my ongoing auctions so I am always focused on something. On the weekends there are flea markets all over the place that are full of goodies and hours of distraction.

This has been a life saver for me. If you find yourself with idle hands you may want to give it a try. My to do list is never empty and I am always busy. It's simple and has been a lot of fun for me...the money thing is nice too

Boredom for me is a big trigger too, so I understand.

You are so right.
I forced myself to stay busy, it saved my life.
How is the ebay business treating you?
Great job on your sobriety!

It's going great. I have already made +/- $100 a week and I just started to do it full on this week. I currently have 101 item for sale so more money to come. It's nice not freaking out over bills right now considering...

Great advice.

The devil will find work for idle hands, as they say
