Abstinence and Recovery
Abstinence and Recovery
I believe that recovery is not possible without total abstinence from narcotics and alcohol. I know that some might not agree, but I really believe that certain substances sever the connection between us and the 'universe'.
Thanks for sharing. If this starts to go the same direction as the last, it won't be here long.
Some people share the same feeling, others do not, everybody has their own life to live and learn.
So now what?
Another thread of "yes it does-no it doesn't"? I'm certain we can do better...

Right now I am functioning off of 1 hour of sleep but call me stoopit, but does this mean total abstinence as in all of anything? (i.e. benzo's rx'd from the doc and so on for w/d's, methadone, subtex, etc for opiate w/d's)

Addiction presents itself in many forms as does Recovery.......>that's my experience.
I'm just so happy and thankful that I'm not living in the nightmare of active addiction anymore and that I've managed to get my life back on track and am comfortable in my own skin. Recovery is possible and it's a great thing.....>no matter the path one chooses. Choice is also a wonderful thing.

ala, I believe you and I share a very many same views on addiction/recover and the 12 step programs, and I'll bet some other issues too!
I hope this thread doesn't **** you off or get out of control like they can.
P.S. Windy, you are twisted? Want to come play?

Ala, you too funny, man (but I still love you).
So, let’s say you are unfortunate enough to be in a train wreck. But you are lucky enough to survive. Will you say, as they wheel you into surgery to sew your limbs back on, “No, don’t give me that narcotic pain killer; it will cut me off from the universe.” Or, will you just change your clean date? :rof
And what about non-narcotic drugs like marijuana, cocaine, and crystal meth, etc. Don’t these sever our connection with the universe?
I think Doug is all over this one. It’s pretty easy to see where you intend it to go, no? Come on now, fess up!
BTW, alcohol IS a narcotic.

The only reason I started this thread was because I was pissed off that the other similar one was removed without warning. I believe it should have been just closed and left there for all to see. It's funny how some like to believe they're in recovery by doing it 'online' , when in reality there is plenty of 'footwork' to be done.
Time to move on. See ya on another thread!

I have to admit, I thought you were gunnin’ for those of us that have taken prescription drugs, or those that can drink (I hate them the most cause I can't!).
