Enjoying My Recovery!!!

I smoked meth for over ten years, and watched myself go from a successful stockbroker, to a homeless street urchin, trying to hustle a free hit from anybody. I lost everything...and then some. I now have over 16 months clean, and I just refuse to live that way ever again. It doesn't matter how much money you make(was earning over $120k/yr).....your addiction will always sink you. It wasn't like I was consuming $120k/yr worth of dope myself- but suddenly about 25 complete strangers appeared in my life that I had absolutely NO USE for. Next thing I know- I have a housekeeper, mechanic, and girlfriends on each arm......and now supporting the drug habits of a whole gang of people I never needed in my life. The BEST thing I could have done for myself....was to move 500 miles away from all those people. It was extremely hard for me to do- I had to sell everything. Now, I realize I have successfully wiped my own slate clean......and it is a HUGE relief. My sponsor (20 years sober) always said, "don't just change ONE THING- you gotta change EVERYTHING!" That is exactly what I did- I even lost the 50lbs I gained in rehab......all without dope(I ride my ridiculously-expensive, new bike 100 miles/week, now). Stay clean- because relapse never has to be an option!!!

Wow Dilberto!!!

I love it when people post such inspirational stories!! You are a HUGE inspiration!!
Meth is a HUGE problem, as are all drugs of course, but it's great to hear people come back from the dead, into life, and be so motivated.

That's also what I love about SR, and message boards such as SR,, when someone posts a message such as this, you just can't imagine how many people this may impact,, or WILL impact!! :ghug3

Keep on Keeping on Dilberto!!
God Bless,
Becky
