Smile Forums Newcomer

Hi...Amanda, Alcoholic...

Just wamted to introduce my self and say hello to everyone.
Day 76 of Sobriety (I actually lost count and had to get the calendar out)!
I've been going to meetings since the beginning of January, and it has been helping tremendously.
The love, compassion, and understanding that I feel inside those rooms is towering! I'm so thankful for a program such as AA.
Although, I have been battling with myself over asking someone to be my sponsor. I don't know why I'm so scared to ask. I believe my main fear is just of rejection, because I am very antsy to start working on the steps.

Anyway...Thanks for being here, all!

The first sponsor I asked said he was sponsoring so many already it would be unfair but he agreed to be my cosponsor til I found a permananet one which I did a week later. He has remained my cosponsor though and very helpful. Don't be afraid to ask just ask. I'm also told don't be afraid to change sponsors, sometimes some people communicate on different levels than others and a change may be healthy.

Hi PepsiGirl,

Good for you with 76 sober days! That's great.

I think it's always hard to put yourself out there, whatever the situation is. But, sometimes that's what it takes in order to get better.

Before you ask for a sponsor
please look on the literature rack for

"Questions and Answers on Sponsorship"

I ask that of my sponsees and it helps
to understand the role of sponsorship.

Congratulations on your sober time
....Welcome to SR!

Congrats on your sobriety!

Remember if a sponsor tell you no, it is NOT about you. And you will be helping the sponsor stay sober too.

We have to give it away to keep it.

Welcome and please keep posting.
