New Breathe Free date: February 14th, '08
Hi again -
LIke I said, I'm not giving this up.
The quitting.
After another doctors appointment, speaking with the quitline people (they've been amazing, btw) and several friends on here...
February 14th is the new stoppage day.
Just ... makin' it official-like.
I am not on patches, not taking chantix
(*shudder*)
right now -
I am willing to do what the doc suggests
(except chantix) the appointment is for Monday.
Quick check in with her, update ... other medical things ...
and - getting the house back in non smoker mode ...
full prep mode.

allright then - we're DOING this!!!
it's so great not to be doin gthis alone.
I have toyed with the idea of starting some kind of associative group like at my house - with AA friends who're trying to quit as well.
Thanks guys!

Hey Everyone, Very proud of all of you for sticking with this and not giving up!!! To tell you the truth, I'm feeling pretty darn proud of myself too! I just passed the one month date a few days ago - hooray for me!! I'm actually an ex-smoker!! If I can do this, I know all of you can. You all have great attitudes and that's half the battle. Keep posting and let me know how you're doing.

Barb and merlotmamma, good for you for planning your quit. I found the planning ahead really helped me.

C and I just set our quit date last night after watching Oprah's Breathe Easy show.
My quit date is Feb. 18th. I'm getting excited about it.
I'll need buddies to help me through it ........ I'll try to post here often and be here for you too.
Edit: Oh, and I'm going to use Chantix and possibly the patch.

Barb, Good luck on the quitting. My husband and I both quit yesterday. I am not using any of the patches, etc. either. Just good, old cold turkeying it. Hubby has Skoal, but will quit that at a later date. Hugs, Marle
Oh, that stinks Barb! Hope you feel better but ....... whatever works, right?
I changed my date to the 25th, I just started the Chantix on Sunday. Still trying to get my mind in the right place but I CAN do this.

So, I'm on day 4 of the Chantix. I think it's starting to kick in a bit.
One of the possible side effects is nausea and boy was I nauseas this morning. C is on day 5 and she was nauseas too.
I can handle go through a few days of nausea. It'll pay off in the end.
How are you doing?

down to the wire ... amazing that I will WILL myself to smoke even with pneumonia.
haven't been to the store for patches.
this is it though. I'm like ... two drags off a smoke and put it out.
then hate the smell.
I've had some personal breakthroughs in other areas regarding self-nurturing stuff.
I think it's leaking/bleeding throug into the smoking.
I also started week two of Topamax.
By stabilizing MOOD... I can get hold of IMPULSIONS, ya know?

Today's my day. I've been breathing free since yesterday evening.
I'm doing very good so far. I've thought about it a few times but no anxiety with it which is wonderful. I just remind myself that I don't stink today. So far that's been motivating enough. One of the girls here that smokes walked past me and she really stunk. I don't have to smell like that anymore!

way to GO PD!!!! it *IS * the smell hon.
My neighbor wanted to baby sit my cat ... because just having her around was stressing em while I was so sick - but he smokes cigars.
and the thought of her coming home with that smell all over her - literally made me sicker than if she just stayed and shed her fru fru white kitty hair all over the apartment.
which she did.
LOL
I'm better ... going for more patches.
how everlovin POWERFUL is this anyhow - that I could be that sick - and still smoke.

Barb, your breathe free date was Feb. 14? I take it you didn't stop then? What's your new date?
----
I'm on day 2 of no ciggs and day 8 of the Chantix.
I'm think I'm doing amazingly well. The Chantix really seems
to keep the anxiety/panic/compulsion away. Thank
goodness.......for everyone around me.
They only side effect I've noticed from the Chantix
is a little bit of nausea. It's not as noticeable now
I usually get it fairly quickly after taking the pill. It
seems to subside just as quickly. I may be a bit
irritable but I'm not sure if that's just my normal
grump level or the lack of nicotine.
C did cardio yesterday and said even though it hadn't
been long she could breathe better and didn't have that
little annoying cough. Not that's something! :bounce
